POLAND: Duda & Morawiecki in Davos

President Andrzej Duda and PM Mateusz Morawiecki participated in the annual World Economic Forum in Davos.

President Duda opened the “Polish House” – an initiative of the state-owned insurance company PZU and Bank Pekao S.A. The aim of this initiative is to put Poland in the spotlight of the WEF, promote Poland as an investment destination and facilitate business relations. PM Morawiecki met with representatives of multinationals. Most notably, PM Morawiecki took the opportunity to announce a significant PLN 1.5 billion investment of the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca. President Duda, on the other hand, focused on meetings with representatives of international organisations, such Kristalina Georgieva of the International Monetary Fund.

President Duda and PM Morawiecki both participating in the World Economic Forum in Davos has become somewhat of a trend. Both took the opportunity to convince political and business leaders of Poland’s economic policy. The strong government presence in Davos certainly sends a clear message of Poland’s ambitions to join the centre stage of international political and business affairs. In order to take full benefit, it will be essential for PM Morawiecki and President Duda to continue their Davos efforts throughout the upcoming year.
